JULIE HAWKINS | founder

Julie Hawkins, founder of Hawkins Interiors, has always been an interior designer at heart.

Her interest in design began at an early age when she selected a miniature collectible farmhouse to furnish and decorate. As her passion for design continued to grow, she received a job in High School at a local design firm in Connecticut to help with organizing the materials library, gardening, and anything that was needed!

After receiving her B.A. from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, Julie joined the acclaimed Backen Gillam Architects with offices in Sausalito and St. Helena, CA.

For 10 years Julie worked in the Interiors Department, eventually going on to lead the department and become an Associate within the firm. She worked on projects ranging from high-end residences to wineries and restaurants in Napa, Aspen, Oregon, Long Island, Nebraska, and Korea.

Julie takes the time to learn about her clients’ unique design interests, and integrates their personal style with her passion for design.

When Not Designing:

Julie enjoys the outdoors with her husband, their two children and dog, Watson. She also likes to read, garden and work on renovating their new home.

Favorite Design Challenge:

Julie loves the challenge of fitting chic designs that are also functional into small spaces, so much so that she’s taken on a personal project – a tiny home renovation right here in Napa Valley.

ROBIN BECK | designer

With both of her parents in the art world, Robin's exposure to art began at an early age. This would eventually lead her to pursue a career in interior design.

While working towards her degree, Robin began her career as a design intern at Erin Martin Design in Saint Helena, CA. After graduating cum laude with a BA in Interior Design, she joined the firm full time as a Junior Designer.

In 2010 Julie hired Robin to become part of the design team at Backen & Gillam Architects, where their work styles were a perfect match. Robin is excited to be a part of the Hawkins Interiors team as a Senior Designer.

Outside of the office, Robin has been learning to play golf. Her fiancé Kris (who recently proposed to her on the 11th hole) is helping her perfect her swing!

When Not Designing: When she’s not spending time with her family, Robin enjoys creating spreadsheets (her secret passion), eating breakfast for dinner, or listening to a podcast.

Favorite Design Challenge: Robin excels in project management, and her organizational skills really come in handy when coordinating the many players involved throughout the design process.

designer | SARAH KEENEY

Prior to pursuing her degree in Interior Design, Sarah worked in investment management. While she’s no longer in that industry, she still finds her bachelor's degree in finance to be highly beneficial. Sarah is known for making a space look great while coming in under budget - she loves crunching the numbers!

Her career change was inspired by the fond memories she has of her parents remodeling her childhood home. She loved selecting paint colors and sketching floor plan ideas. It’s still her favorite part of the design process.

Before joining the Hawkins Interiors team in 2018, Sarah worked as a designer and buyer at a furniture showroom, which helped her become familiar with the industry.

Sarah recently moved to Sonoma to soak up that small town, country vibe and couldn’t be happier!

When Not Designing: You can usually catch Sarah cheering on the San Jose Sharks. Or, enjoying the outdoors with her husband Kyle, and their adopted pup, Wally.

Favorite Design Challenge: Sarah has an appreciation for many different looks and enjoys the challenge of mixing multiple styles in a way that’s eclectic, yet harmonious.
